This past weekend I went to a wedding. It was beautiful. It was at the waterfront of this beautiful hotel. There was a nice breeze that kept us all cool despite the reported scorching degrees. It was so screening. The bride was absolutely beautiful. The service was exceptional and the company was great.
There were flowers of every sort and mature trees scattered throughout the grounds. Because of the wind and the loose fabric of my flowing dress, I looked like a Goddess and felt like one. It looked like I was about to take flight in my chiffon flowing material.
The wedding was small and intimate. Only 30 close friends and family. We sat facing the water as the bride and groom exchanged vows under a gazebo. After the deed was done, we were greeted by the staff for a sip of champaign which went straight to most of our head because we were drinking on an empty stomach. The bubblies will do that to you. But aside from this sudden rush of tingles, I took a moment to appreciate this cold, refreshing beverage and take a mental picture of this moment.
We were then all directed inside the dining area as the bride and groom went on to take pictures with the very talented and personable photographer. Once inside, the waiting staff read to us the menu. It was a 5-course meal. The plates were reasonable in size but added all up it was a bit more than I could handle.
While I was waiting for the meal to come, in my attempts to level my head from the buzz I was feeling, I had a small loaf of bread and butter. I love butter so I thoroughly enjoyed it but it wasn’t the best move for me considering that I tend to get full just by the mere sight of food no matter how famished I am. A few minutes later, the first course came. It was a mushroom covered pastry dish. Mushrooms is another one of my favorites. Then came the pasta. There were two kinds on the plate. One was a bow tie shaped pasta with pesto sauce made from scratch. The Hotel grows there own herbs. You could just see the quality and light color of the sauce that just screamed health. Unfortunately, my tiny stomach did not allow me to indulge. Instead, I opted to choose my battles and only ate the other half of the dish. Again, it was a pasta dish which consisted of a cream cheese sauce. After that came salad which I had to decline. I was already getting quite stuffed and knew that if I had eaten that I could pretty much kiss the main course goodbye.
Then came the meal we had all been waiting for… I had the chicken in a wine sauce. It was quite delicious but I only managed to eat half my meal. But the truth of the matter is, I only Really realized how absolute stuffed I was when I got up to use the washroom. If I had dropped something and bent over to pick it up I would have surely brought everything I had just spent the last 45 minutes or so eating, right back up.
Then came desert. Mmmmm! desert. We were served a hazelnut treat. It was a teenie mousse cake that was a delight to eat. Did I have room for it? NO. But I pushed it down anyway. It’s amazing what a little greed and hungry eyes will bring you to do.
All in all, this was a beautiful day to remember spent with loved ones, family, and friends. I ate like a Queen and drank till I was happy. These are the moments we should all cherish in life not matter how big or small and best of all, I witnessed the union of the Bride and Groom who now embark on a new journey as they build their life together as husband and wife.
