Heat wave

Man! It’s HOTTTT! It has been unbelievably hot these past few days. All you want to do is make like a crocodile and just lounge around like they do all day with their mouth open so they don’t overheat.

On days like these go head out for a swim. Drove by my local pool today and the parking lot was full to the brim. Everyone and their aunt Mary was out today trying to cool down and what better way to do so than to fully submerge yourself in a pool of unheated water.

People, be safe. Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water. Try not to overdo it with the alcohol. The worst thing is to be dehydrated and drunk. Bad combo. You’re just asking for trouble.

Also, don’t forget to apply ample amounts of sunscreen. Not only are sunburns painful, but over time they can be fatal leading up to cancer. That nice golden tan you are aiming for isn’t worth being restricted to a hospital bed in your elder years. Not to mention what it does to your skin. If you don’t want yo look like a deflated, shrivelled up balloon before your time, take a few seconds and protect your skin. If not with sunblock then at the very least wear long sleeves and a wide-brimmed hat or cap with a visor.

Summer is indeed a beautiful time of year.  There is so much to do. Like today for example, I sat in the shade, on the terrace at Starbucks, treated myself to an iced coffee and a croissant, bacon, cheese and egg sandwich and people watched. One of my favorite things to do. I wonder who they are, where they’re going, what their story is, what their struggles are, who are their loved ones, where they work, where they live, what interests they have, why they are walking down that street, are they tourists, and so on…

And folks, remember when you’re complaining about how unbearably Hot it is, that winter is right around the corner so shut up and enjoy every bit of it because you’ll soon be complaining again for polar opposite reasons.
